About Me

Your Adventure Advisor

As a woman who has traveled alone to countless places, I get it. Solo travel can seem scary, overwhelming, lonely, and expensive. If you find yourself aching to get out there but aren’t sure how to make it happen, I’m here to help.

My 30th national park // Grand Canyon, AZ

Hi, I’m Ani!

Michigan native, foodie, avid reader, outdoors enthusiast, and lover of all things travel.

The itch to explore started early in my life and hasn’t slowed down with age. As a young girl, I dreamed of faraway places, fascinating cultures, mouthwatering cuisines, and a whole lot of adventure.

Throughout the years, I’ve had the incredible privilege of traveling to 15 countries, studying abroad on three continents, and visiting 34 US National Parks – much of this travel done solo!

The first time I traveled by myself was to Bali, Indonesia in 2017. I had just finished up a semester abroad in New Zealand and looked to extend my trip before returning home to Michigan. Nervous yet incredibly excited, I booked the ticket and never looked back. To this day, I recall the exhilaration as I arrived in a mysterious yet magical country, having no idea what to expect.

Despite the language barrier, a foreign currency to juggle, and an actively erupting volcano, I loved my time in Bali. I woke up each day with the choice to tour the rice terraces or the sacred monkey forest. To stroll along the turquoise beaches or wander throughout the mystifying temples. To try my luck at surfing or relax with a $10 massage. And it was all up to me.

These ten days of complete freedom to explore exactly the way I envisioned turned out to be one of the best experiences of my life.

Goin’ Solo

With this newfound realization that solo travel as a young woman was safe, affordable, and unbelievably fun, I couldn’t stop myself from wanting more.

In 2020, I planned a work hiatus to embark on a 4 month solo trip to South America. When a worldwide pandemic got in the way, I switched gears and road tripped the US, visiting national parks and camping out of my car – yes, solo!

After these precious experiences, my perspective on travel shifted, leaving me with an invaluable realization: I would not have to wait on anybody to travel, ever again. I started booking airfare without consulting others. I planned small adventures entirely solo. I learned how to be independent, to rely on my gut instincts, and I gained the confidence to do more and more by myself.

Traveling with family, friends, and loved ones is still one of my top priorities, and I highly recommend you make it so too! But I no longer have to wait on others to reach the places I’ve dreamed of. What a gift that solo travel gave me, one that has entirely changed the way I live my life and approach adventure.

An Agency Born

This journey, along with my passion for helping humans to see the world, is ultimately why I started Go Solo Adventures – an agency dedicated to help you reach the places you’ve been putting off.

In 2022, I completed a training program through The Travel Institute and became an independent agent through Travel Planners International. I continue to look for new educational opportunities to better serve my fellow travel lovers.

It is my sincere goal and mission to make solo travel more accessible for you, however that looks. Working with your wants, needs, and wildest desires, I’m excited to curate the best itinerary for your solo adventure, down to lodging, activities, transportation, logistics, and more.
